The purpose of this site is to take the encyclopedia content of the ITF Legacy CD and update it per the 1999 Condensed Encyclopedia content, specifically the version that was printed in Canada. To the best of my knowledge this was the last version Gen. Choi Hong Hi personally worked on.
The end result should be a fully searchable encyclopedia set with hyperlinks between relevant content sections available for reference by students of ITF Taekwon-Do worldwide via the magic of the internet.
I am aware that there are newer versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia out there however the purpose of this site is to update the content of the 15 volume encyclopedia set, which was worked on directly by General Choi, with the last edition of the Condensed Encyclopedia that he also worked on personally, effectively making it our last source of truth for the art as he created it.
I understand that there are also some discrepancies between different versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia both across different languages and even different sources of content; I can only work to the version I have access to in the language that I am able read. As a result I tender my apologies to anyone who eventually finds this document and disagrees with it on the basis of it being different to the version you are working from. This is just the best I personally am able to offer.
Please note, this is going to be both a long term project and a labour of love in a way. I just want to share the martial art I love with my students and help others around the world out. There are many requests for information on the internet asking how to obtain copies of either the 15 volume encyclopedia or various versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia but very few of them have recent answers as of 2024. If this project ever comes to completion, this is my answer to anyone who follows the Taekwon-Do teachings of the arts founder, General Choi Hong Hi.
I should also mention that while I am doing my best to ensure that all content from the 15 volume encyclopedia set is present and updated in some places the format of the layout has been adjusted due to the limitations of the wiki format.
