The purpose of this site is to take the encyclopedia content of the ITF Legacy CD and update it per the 1999 Condensed Encyclopedia content (the last version Gen. Choi Hong Hi personally worked on).
The end result should be a fully searchable encyclopedia set with hyperlinks between relevant content sections available for reference by students of ITF Taekwon-Do worldwide via the magic of the internet.
I am aware that there are newer versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia out there, but to the best of my knowledge the 1999 edition is the last one that General Choi had personal input into, effectively making it our last source of truth for the art as he created it.
I understand that there are also some discrepancies between different language versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia; unfortunately the English version is both the only version I have access to as a reference point and it is the only version I have the language skills to read so my apologies to anyone who eventually finds this document and disagrees with it on the basis of it being different to the version you are working from. This is just the best I personally am able to offer.
Please note, this is going to be both a long term project and a labour of love in a way. I just want to share the martial art I love with my students and help others around the world out. There are many requests for information on the internet asking how to obtain copies of either the 15 volume encyclopedia or various versions of the Condensed Encyclopedia but very few of them have recent answers as of 2024. If this project ever comes to completion, this is my answer to anyone who follows the Taekwon-Do teachings of the arts founder, General Choi Hong Hi.
